Happy Anniversary

It's been a year. But that's all it has been.

Factors affecting the amount of time that the hourglass measures include: the volume of sand, the size and angle of the bulbs, the width of the neck, and the type and quality of the sand. Alternatives to sand that have been used are powdered eggshell and powdered marble.

When the sand has all run out, some obstinate grains yet stick on, deliberately oblivious of what the world outside wants them to do. And the world, in turn, ignores them, the only remnants of what once was Time. The world has to but flip the hourglass, and Time shall return; but the grain's world turns upside down.

Ordinary sundials do not correct apparent solar time to clock time. There is a 15 minute variation through the year, known as the equation of time, because the Earth's orbit is slightly elliptical and its axis is tilted relative to the plane of its orbit.

When the Sun shall set, the Night shall return. Cloudless, moonlit, cool as I remember you. Or so I dream, on a humid summer afternoon.

Nothing is perfect. Yet we seek symmetry. So a hexagon is better than a pentagon, a 100 is better than a 90, and a full year is an excuse to write crap.

Her Majesty

Her Majesty's a pretty nice girl,
But she doesn't have a lot to say.
Her Majesty's a pretty nice girl,
but she changes from day to day;

I want to tell her that I love her a lot
But I gotta get a bellyful of wine.
Her Majesty's a pretty nice girl,
Someday I'm going to make her mine.

Oh yeah, someday I'm going to make her mine.

Red velvet, velvet red,
Fur and blood, claws and red,
The queen of hearts has found another,
She squeezed it so, oh how it bled.

Blanched, shrivelled it lies at her feet,
How her flush cheeks mock it;
Crows shall be content and eat,
The royal crow seeks fresh meat.

Katana Candidates

Fools.
Did you think this was going to last?
Do you think you can have it all back?
You think your sickening life is sweet,
All it's worth is a nice clean hack.

Sanity logic and fairness vs.
Cold and curve and edge.
Young pink couple on their 2nd date,
They have found love, or so they guess,
You are responsible, you are to blame,
My lovely, happy katana candidate.

Echoes

Strangers passing in the street
By chance two separate glances meet
And I am you and what I see is me.

I take my hatchet, and bury it,
Deep into your skull, through hair bone grey,
It's messy, distasteful even (it reeks of Pulp Fiction)
But you keep smiling away.

Drop the glass, it's not hard,
Just a sharp crack, you'll live;
Shatter, shock, shards I survive,
Echoes, faint and blunt, kill.

Eternal

Clementine: This is it, Joel. It's going to be gone soon.
Joel: I know.
Clementine: What do we do?
Joel: Enjoy it.

Joel: I really need to go. I should catch my ride.
Clementine: So go.
Joel: I did. I walked out the door. I was too nervous. I thought, maybe you were a nut. But you were exciting. I felt like I was a scared little kid.
Clementine: You were scared?
Joel: Yeah. I thought you knew that about me. I ran back to the bonfire, trying to outrun my humiliation.
Clementine: Was it something I said?
Joel: Yeah, you said so go. Said it with such disdain you know?
Clementine: Oh, I'm sorry.
Joel: It's ok.
Clementine: I wish you had stayed.
Joel: I wish I had stayed too. I swear to god I wish I had stayed. I wish I had done a lot of things. I wish... I wish I had stayed.
Clementine: Joely? What if you stayed this time?
Joel: I walked out the door. There's no memory left.
Clementine: Come back and make up a good-bye at least. Pretend we had one.

Joel: Can you hear me? I don't want this any more! I want to call it off!

Alive

Is there something wrong she said;
Of course there is.
You're still alive she said,
Oh, and do I deserve to be?
Is that the question?
And if so, if so,
who answers, who answers?

I.
